Global Foundations Lead

The Opportunity

Save the Children International has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as the Global Foundations Lead in London, UK or any existing Save the Children International Regional or Country office worldwide.

Role Purpose:

Save the Children has agreed a new ambitious Global Partnerships & Philanthropy (P&P) strategy for 2022-24, with an annual target of $500M USD and private partnerships have been identified as increasingly crucial and strategic across the whole organisation to reach this ambition.

To meet this ambition, Global Foundations partnerships has been identified as a key growth channel. Working closely with the P&P team and Head of Impact Giving & Foundation Partnerships, this role will work with key member markets to grow and optimise their income and impact with global foundations. The Global Foundations Manager will join the Global Partnerships and Philanthropy team of Save the Children International that provides strategic support and technical guidance to our national Members in Asia, Europe, Latin America and North America. A number of the team members work remotely, and the location of this job is flexible. The role will involve travel to lead on and support foundations in new markets as well as more established ones.

We are looking for an experienced and passionate professional to support, join up, and grow the global Save the Children community of foundations, and support the global strategy for foundations.

  • Support Save the Children’s global philanthropy and partnerships team and the Head of Impact Giving & Foundation Partnerships to develop and implement the Foundations growth strategy to increase size and ambition of our Foundations portfolio
  • Support the Head of Impact Giving & Foundation Partnerships to prioritise and identify a list of global foundation prospects
  • Nurture a community of practice with Foundation fundraising colleagues from across the movement
  • Support on identifying, developing and promoting best practice in foundations across the Save the Children movement, in order to build internal capacity and increase long-term income.
  • Support on building capacity across our global movement, including building expertise and skills in foundation prospecting, proposition development, pitching and market analysis for new and growth opportunities with foundations to drive increased value and impact at national and global levels.

In order to be successful you will bring/have:

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Technical

  • Demonstrated proficiency in successful fundraising with foundations and/or similar strategic partners and experience
  • Established relationships with decision makers at some of the largest, most influential granting organizations and collaborative networks
  • In-depth understanding of the marketplace, competitors, and trends in foundation giving
  • Demonstrated professional verbal and written communication skills in English, specifically the ability to communicate organizational value add in a clear and inspiring manner
  • Confident networking with, and influencing, senior people both internally and externally in order to achieve pre-defined outcomes
  • Ability to think creatively and to develop tailor made proposals to meet corporate and Save the Children objectives
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and manage a varied workload in a pressured and complex environment
  • A demonstrable and sophisticated understanding of the complexities of international development programming partnerships and associated challenges and solutions
  • Strategic thinker – able to influence and bring others on a journey to inspire and deliver new partnerships

Personal

  • A strong commercial understanding
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to persuade, motivate, network and negotiate effectively both internally and externally
  • Proactive about self-development, using feedback and insight to improve performance
  • Sees beyond immediate sphere of influence and is aligned to Save the Children’s overall objectives
  • Acts without guidance on a frequent basis, limited oversight required
  • A proven team player. Someone who is open and who is able and willing to deliver beyond his or her personal brief.

Additional Information:

  • High fluency in written and spoken English is essential and second language of Member country ideally.
  • A willingness to travel up to approximately 20% of work time as and when required (COVID-19 permitting).
  • A willingness and ability to work outside of standard workhours to accommodate working across time zones.

We can offer circa £52,250 per annum (If based in UK) with an option of flexible working hours. If the role is based outside of the UK, National T&C (including pay) will apply.

This role can be based in London or any existing Save the Children International Regional or Country office location on approval, provided the successful candidate has proof of eligibility to work from the preferred location.
