Bester Mulauzi - Save the Children Country Director: Save the children is the world’s largest independent organization working on children’s rights. As a key stakeholder working with children and communities, Save the children started working in Tanzania in 1986 on the island of Pemba in Zanzibar and later expanded its programming to Tanzania mainland

Save the Children has been implementing an integrated program covering Child Protection and Education in Emergencies, in Kigoma region, since 2017. SC has been    supporting host communities in Kasulu and Kibondo districts by strengthening infrastructure, building capacity and strategic partnerships  with state and non-state actors on education and child protection.

Climate change is expected to worsen in the coming decades; and the Southern Africa region is among the most affected in the world, making it one of the global climate change hotspots.  An increase in both frequency and intensity of extreme events, mainly droughts, cyclones and floods, is anticipated. These changes pose serious hazards to children, particularly those who are most deprived and marginalized.
